Changes to Driver-CPC

It’s all we’ve been talking about here in the office. Well, that and the changes to the DVSA Guide to Maintaining Road Worthiness.

So, what are the changes?

Well firstly, there's no change for drivers performing international movements and they'll be required to keep their DQC up to date with the existing Driver-CPC training requirements, now to be called I-CPC (for International)

For the domestic haulage market though, now referred to as N-CPC, we are going to see

  • the potential splitting of the 5 x 7-hour modules into 10 x 3.5 hours blocks instead,

  • eLearning-only courses to be permitted to a maximum of 12 hours of the 35 hours every 5 years, and

  • finally courses no longer need to be completed on consecutive days.

Changes to the Driver-CPC on its way
Driver-CPC ?!?

There were rumours of driver CPC being scrapped all together but clearly that isn’t happening, just a quick chat with the commissioners would have killed that rumour.

At present training providers are waiting for guidelines from the DVSA as to how these changes are going to affect the training services we provide including the fees charged for uploading, the permitted contents in the modules, and changes to their systems to handle these variations.

By the time this goes to print, we hope to have more information and pricing, so our best advice is to "watch this space".
